Tapion is a legendary hero from the Planet Konats in Universe 7, first appearing in the Dragon Ball Z movie "Wrath of the Dragon." Thousands of years before the events of Dragon Ball Z, a violent monster called Hirudegarn threatened Konats.
Tapion and his younger brother, Minotia, were chosen to wield special ocarinas and swords capable of sealing Hirudegarn. They successfully split the monster in half, each brother imprisoning a portion within their own bodies. To ensure Hirudegarn's complete containment, they were then sealed within mystical music boxes.
In the Age 774, the evil sorcerer Hoi exploited the Dragon Balls to release Tapion from his prison. Hoi hoped to resurrect Hirudegarn. However, Tapion resisted the monster's re-emergence with the power of his ocarina. Tapion befriended Trunks, who viewed him as an older brother figure. Ultimately, Hirudegarn fully manifested and was defeated by Super Saiyan 3 Goku, freeing Tapion from his burden. Tapion gave Trunks his sword as a symbol of their friendship and departed in a Time Machine.
